The Visual Arts program at St Joseph’s is an exciting developmental journey that builds creativity, skills, and self-expression from Prep through to Year 6. Students come to our purpose-built art room to explore themes and ideas through a diverse range of media including painting, drawing, watercolours, clay, sculpture, textiles, printing and mixed media, allowing them to explore visual storytelling through both traditional and contemporary techniques.

Each year builds upon the last, with carefully sequenced lessons that develop artistic processes such as sketching, colour mixing, shaping, assembling, and experimenting with texture and form. As students progress, they gain confidence in their creative choices, refine their skills, and learn to reflect on their work and the work of others.

The program supports cognitive, emotional, and fine motor development, while fostering imagination, and a sense of achievement through hands-on learning and personal expression.
